Rwanda And EFL Training Teachers

If you decide to become a teacher of English as a foreign language or EFL teacher, your skills will help people across the world and particularly in developing countries. It will help them when it comes to trade, their economy and education. We can also share each other’s cultures better when we can share a common second or first language. You can teach English as a foreign language if you have a degree and have undergone EFL training.
Africa has become one of the most popular continents to travel to as an EFL teacher. Because of its colonial past there are hundreds if not thousands of native languages and foreign speech including German and French. English is common in those areas that were dominated by British colonialists however it remains relatively unknown in some places.
Rwanda has now begun a national programme of teaching in English at primary and secondary schools. They hope to use English so that the children of today will be able to speak English when they become government officials, academics, business men and women and diplomatic envoys.
The Francophobe feelings that run deep in Rwanda since the 1994 genocide have been put as a reason behind this move away from French. Relations have cooled as both countries blame each other for the mass killings.
Although this is definitely not a reason behind the switch to English touted by officials, commentators view this as a large reason. Rwanda insist that English as a common second language will help them to deal with the rest of the world more effectively. This applies to countries including China, the US and England as well as other countries. Their neighbouring countries like Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania also speak English as their common second language.
Businesses are also seeing the benefits of using English in every office around the world to make trading and communications easier. EFL training is a sure way to becoming a teacher of English in a foreign country.
